"O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!"
Whenever I hear this song, it always seems to sum up what is 'America' to me...more so than even the National Anthem! We are headed to a friends house for the fourth today...they live on the beach and we will be able to see the city fireworks from their deck! Should be great fun, although Mark is going through withdrawal. This is the first year since we moved to this house on land that he hasn't spent a few hundred (one year it was 1200!!) dollars on fireworks....we spent a grand total this year of sixteen dollars on sparklers and poppers for the kids! I have chicken marinating in Huli Huli sauce (a GREAT Hawaiian marinade) and we will take that with us for the bbq.
So, Happy Fourth of July everyone! Have a safe day! Don't go blowing yourselves up...don't drink and drive...and mostly...just remember that America is a GREAT place to live...
Hugs
Jaye
